THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW OVER AND HAS BEEN
VERY
SUCCESSFUL
The Engineering Analysis Section of Center for Engineering Research at the Research Institute of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals
(KFUPM), Dhahran is organizing the “1st Saudi-French workshop in Civil Engineering in Petroleum Infrastructure and Facilities – Simulation, Modeling and Materials”,
with the support of the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a major expansion in the petroleum industry with numerous large scale
projects for enhancing oil production. The role of civil engineering using state-of-the-art simulation, modeling and materials is crucial in the development and maintenance of petroleum infrastructures and facilities. The emerging challenges and growing needs of the industry can be tackled by incorporating advanced technologies and novel solutions. The 1st Saudi-French workshop at KFUPM will feature invited experts form French research centers, universities and industry who will share their expertise and innovative developments.
This Workshop encompasses a broad area of concrete engineering,
finite element modeling, soil-structure interaction, performance
and risk assessments, durability, repair, rehabilitation and
enhancement of service life of concrete and steel structures, fire
engineering, enriched virtual environment and Geostatistics.
The objective of this workshop is to share knowledge, experience and expertise and to develop framework for collaboration between Saudi and French researchers,
academicians and organizations. The outcomes of the workshop are expected to include enhanced collaborative activities, joint proposals for research, technology transfer and educational exchange between Saudi Arabia and France. It is hoped that this workshop will promote an exchange of knowledge that will lead to greater interaction between the
industry, universities and research centers of the two nations.
The Center for Engineering
Research is pleased to invite practicing civil engineers,
faculty members, and researchers to participate in the 1st
Saudi-French Workshop to be held on March 26 and 27, 2007. There is
no registration fee for the workshop but seats are limited. We are
